A very short Prepper Story

A Prepper Story

A Prepper StoryMy husband may never forgive me for telling this prepper story but it demonstrates an important lesson.  We planned a trip to go hiking through Kings Canyon, one of California’s National Parks.  Being the Prepper I am, I read up on the local animal life and what to do if we encounter a dangerous animal.  So there we were…hiking through the forest, and all of a sudden, a bear appeared and was coming toward us.  As the typical prepper story goes, I was prepared for such an occasion!  On the hike, I picked up a fist-sized rock and held my pepper spray in the other.  Holding my ground, I started shouting and threw the rock in the bear’s general direction.  My tough-guy husband (whom I trust with my life and who has jumped to my rescue many times when confronting dogs on our regular walking path), who was leading the way, somehow ended up behind me.  He unconsciously used me as a human shield because he faced something unexpected.  I am happy to report that the bear moved on, and I was able to resuscitate my husband.  Being prepared lessened the shock of oncoming danger, and I was able to act quickly, which improved our chances of safety.

There are many threats in today’s world. Actively prepping can greatly enhance your personal safety. Being aware of possible dangers and what to do if those dangers arise is applicable in almost any situation. Over the years, I’ve had requests to create a simple guide to being prepared. Wouldn’t it be easier to help friends and family understand the value of preparedness if there were a simple formula and a prepper story or two they could share? We’ll now there is! If you’re interested in more short prepper stories like this one and a simple guide to being prepared, you can find it all in my book Prepper Supplies Checklist. It’s a quick 20-minute read workbook, but if you’ve got the prepper mentally, you may find yourself taking inventory of all the supplies in your home (in which case it is a little more of a time investment).
