About

Annette Kennedy MeadowWelcome!  My name is Nettie David.  I am a homemaker, foster mother, hobbyist Prepper, and blogger.

I have a passion for serving my community. I believe we can learn a lot from each other, especially those less fortunate. My passion led me to study, and I earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Public Administration. I enjoy reading, hiking, exploring the Prepper community, and shooting guns. My husband teases me that the only time I have given a genuine smile to a camera is when I am holding a gun.

This blog is about emergency preparedness which means gathering supplies and knowledge in case of a natural disaster or crisis event.  My first goal in starting this website is to simplify Prepping.  My second goal is to motivate and inspire others to start prepping and work toward being more self-reliant. Prepping is about gathering supplies and knowledge to sustain you for a short time in an emergency situation. Becoming self-reliant is providing for your family’s basic needs and NOT relying on the government to provide food, water, clothes, etc. Simple emergency preps and small changes to become more self-reliant can provide your family a safety net for the uncertain times that lay before us.Shooting DaveNettie

I am not a Doomsday Prepper! I am more of a Girl Scout Prepper. “Be prepared! A Girl Scout is ready to help out wherever she is needed. Willingness to serve is not enough; you must know how to do the job well, even in an emergency” (the motto, in the 1947 Girl Scout Handbook). Being a Prepper has been a blessing to me, my family, and my friends on more than one occasion. You’ll find these stories throughout my blog.

  1. Hi Nettie, what an amazing blog!!! I am a member of the Oath Keepers in San Diego. We are beginning to organize community preparedness teams. It’s a free training program that brings military & first responders together with the average citizen to teach them to be self-reliant. We have 5 areas of emergency focus: medical, communications, engineering, security, and preparedness.

The content of your blog is brilliant, easy to understand, and extremely helpful for those in our community seeking to be self-reliant in case of a disaster.

Would you be willing to let us post a link to your site on our word press site as a resource for emergency preparedness? We would be very grateful if you’d be willing to be a resource for our community.

Please check out our fledgling blog to see if you are comfortable with our goals at

  2. Can’t tell you how happy I was to stumble over this. I’ve been a prepper long before the Internet. It does my heart good to see young women taking up the gauntlet of preparedness. 🙂 Awesome.

  3. LOL! I just realized I bought your book awhile back! Great job here BTW. I’ve been teaching this stuff over 20+ years, and this is great. Very easy to read & do.
    Keep up the good work!
