How to Get an Emergency Supply of Antibiotics

Jase Medical Review - Antibiotic treatment for travelers

Having an emergency supply of antibiotics is a common goal among preppers. Did you know that generic antibiotics are produced outside of the United States? With supply chain shortages, it’s no wonder you  are more eager than ever to have a backup supply of this life-saving medication.

There are so many reasons to have an emergency supply of antibiotics, for instance, traveler’s diarrhea, urinary tract infection, ear or tooth infection, Pneumonia, infected cut, exposure to a chemical weapon such as Anthrax, and the list goes on. Doctors typically have been unwilling to prescribe antibiotics for a ‘just in case of an emergency scenario’. Until now!

Telemedicine is the ability of doctors to practice medicine using technology (phone calls or online) to screen a patient and deliver care by sending prescriptions through the mail. Using tech to provide medical care has gained traction during the pandemic. Many doctors see the benefits of telemedicine, and patients seek this type of care.

How long can the antibiotics be stored?

“The FDA requires pharmacies to put an expiration date of 1 year on prescriptions. Most antibiotics will come with an expiration date between 2 and 3 years from the date of manufacture. To maximize the shelf-life of your medications, they should be stored in air-tight containers in a cool, dry environment.

Under proper storage conditions, antibiotics expiration dates can be extended for a minimum of an additional 5 years.

Studies have even shown 90% retained potency after as many as 20 years.” FAQ from Jase Medical

Pros

  • Preppers can finally get an emergency supply of antibiotics!
  • 100% legal and board-certified doctors prescribe the antibiotics.
  • Available to adults and anyone between the ages of 12-17 can have an adult order for them.
  • Quick and easy ordering process.
  • Convenient – delivered to my home.
  • It is reasonably priced based on comparisons (see the two tables above).
  • Most importantly, you get five different life-saving antibiotics and a book on how to use them properly!!
  • In addition, you will have access to a physician follow-up for any medical questions relating to the use of any medication prescribed.

Cons:

    • Jase Medical was experiencing a supply shortage on the Guidebook and Carrying Case. However, these items were shipped separately.
    • The prescription bottles come in whatever supplies are available, so the bottles that were shipped to me (see photo below) are larger than the advertised photo. These bottles were bulker but fit in the Jase Carrying Case.

    • Great question! Each family member has to fill out their own form so that the antibiotics can be prescribed directly to them. For kids 12-17 years old, an adult is able to fill out the form on behalf of someone that wouldn’t be able to do it themselves.

    • The green booklet in the article explains what to use the medications for. Look for the PDF link to see how the booklet list possible reasons one would need to use antibiotics in an SHTF scenario.
