Does Fire Resistant Bags Really Work?

Fire Resistant Bag

Does this fire resistant bag really work? This product was a BUST and literally went up in flames! A fire resistant bag sold by Home Safe looked too good to be true. I was searching for a fireproof bag to store in a file cabinet. The advertisement claimed it was fireproof, waterproof, and explosion-proof!?! I came across a video review where a flame touched the bottom of the bag and nothing happened. Even though this bag looked tough and the reviews looked good, I had to test it. I printed off a fake birth certificate and other documents. I added some photos, money, and a zip drive. Watch the video below to see how well it withstands the flames.

See For Yourself

Do fireproof bags really work? As I placed the fire proof bag in a roaring fireplace, the handles caught fire, followed by the zipper, which then caught the documents that were stored inside on fire. It’s hard to believe that a company can so blatantly lie about the products they sell. In the fine print, it states that it’s a fire resistant bag.  Ha! The video shows how fire resistant it is. The worst part is that I can’t leave a review on the website where it was purchased since I received at a discount on the ‘fire resistant bag’. As you can see the photos, zip drive, and money was unharmed because they were stored in the bottom left corner furthest from the zipper. It’s likely they would have been damaged if left in the flames longer.

The zipper and handles were made of cloth and easily caught fire. Since cloth was the vulnerable material other bags that don’t have zippers may work just fine.
